Many of us are still being cautious about getting out into
public because of COVID19 therefore we are spending a lot o
f time indoors. You might notice being at home has created a bit of clutter over the last few months. When our surroundings are in disarray, it eliminates our ability to create space to think clearly.
A messy house creates a confused mind
The ancient practice of Feng Shui focuses on the placement of objects in the home to create a balanced environment that will overflow into every aspect of your life: business, family, intimate, personal, and spiritual. Focus on one area of your home or office and organize only that space. I like to start with my desk because that is where I do a lot of my thinking. I also find if my living room is messy, I do not relax well.
Look for the place where you spend most of your time and begin there to eliminate confusion.
How to apply a new practice.
When applying a new practice test to see if your actions make a lasting change. Sit quietly before you start and notice how you feel.
- Is your mind racing?
- Do you feel the tension in your body?
- Are you agitated, angry, or frustrated?
Do not question why you feel this way, merely observe your mind and body. Then adjust your surroundings, so it is clean, organized, and free from clutter. Once again, check-in to notice your thoughts, feelings, and any sensations in your body. Do you sense even a slight difference?
Each time you make a change, do not negate the process because you do not see a significant shift, sometimes change happens in baby steps. Validate your efforts and keep track for about a month.
