This weekend I saw the newest Michael Moore movie, “Where to Invade Next.” Granted he goes over the top with his commentary, but it is entertaining. And isn’t that what movies are all about? Cinema often portrays a message, subtle as it might be. Moore’s movies are anything but subtle.
In Moore’s documentary, he compares America to the rest of the world in the areas of education, work environment, family, the treatment of inmates, how and what we eat, and talks about what is working in other countries that perhaps we could apply in ours.
My first hit was how America is off base and not doing the best we could for our people. But then I thought again. When I re-evaluated what I was observing, I saw how contentment in other parts of the world is helping people in those countries.
Do we always have to be the best at everything because we are Americans or whatever label we want to give ourselves? Could we just be happy that someone else has accomplished something and find ways to benefit from their wisdom? Can we just be happy for others? After all, we are all one. What others have, we do as well, if we merely own it.
So look around this week and see who has figured out something that you have not. And instead of being envious, applaud them, even if it is only in the quiet of your mind. I know you all have gifts I have yet to discover and I celebrate YOU!
Pedaling as fast as I can, trying to keep up,

Loved this movie. Like what you say, Marnie, about how there is something to be learned from everyone. Hope you keep on pedaling so we can benefit from your journey 🙂
