Quarantined and Bored Already!
Like the rest of the world I am quarantined but also bored with my cooking, and it has only been a week. I have a few signature dishes, but being alone, I am not inclined to prepare them just for me. So today, I became creative and decided to make a tasty cheese sauce to pour for my healthy green broccoli. How difficult could that be? A little butter, some cheese, heat it on the stove and walla! Ah – no.
The cheese never blended with the butter, it curdled and turned into rubber, but I ate it anyway, because Mom always said, “Don’t waste food.”As for my reheated fish, I’d say don’t try that one either. The flounder came out quite chewy as well. So how can you avoid this dilemma? Dinner out is not an option, as well as supper with friends, but there is a solution.
Another way to help an elder
With the Coronavirus knocking at our doors, I see neighbors and friends reaching out to each other, offering to grocery shop and run errands for us who are of high risk because of our age. I suggest one more way to be helpful is to share one or two of your favorite recipes. We all have a few culinary favorites that are easy to prepare and bring a smile around the table. I, for one, would love to be inspired by your simple but tasty meals.
Easy Recipes to share
My go-to meal is Chicken Piccata, remember, some wine in the pan, more wine poured into the cook. Taco Salad is always sure to please. I make the meat and freeze it in small quantities to use later. So while you are quarantined and bored, take a moment to send me your favorite and save me from another gastronomic disaster.
