Build up your lungs
The best way to avoid disease and COVID 19 is to strengthen your lungs and what better time to take a deep breath than in the spring. Have you noticed how clear the air has become? People are driving less with only a few airplanes in the sky, why not take advantage of this rare occurance. Step outside, the air is crisp, clean, and feels great.
There are many breathing practices on the web; I will share a few with you. Some will profess to breathe through your mouth to bring more oxygen to your lungs; others say breathe through your nose to moisten the air and avoid a dry cough. Find the one that suits you best.
Pick a breathing method to suit you
The Wim Hoff breathing method directs you to take 30 to 40 deep breaths through your mouth and then hold you breath for a minute or two. They also suggest ice-cold baths or showers. I’m not a fan.
Benefits of Wim Hof breathing
- heightened oxygen
- more energy
- reduced stress levels
- augment immune response that swiftly deals with pathogens
The American Lung Association has a few simple techniques you might want to try.
Here are a few from Andrew Weil . Relax, breathe, and don’t let this be one more thing you feel you must do. Do it because it makes you feel good; otherwise, don’t do it.

Breathe in Exhale
- Peace Anger
- Forgiveness Grief
- Surrender Fear
- Love and Light Despair Hopelessness
- Gratitude Anxiety
Breathe in and replace with:
- Confusion to Clarity
- Lack to Abundance
- Uncertainty to Knowingness
- Fear to Inspiration
- Anger to Forgiveness
- Control to Surrender
