As we get older new aches and pains arise. Some are passing fancies, but some knock us down for a loop and you may ask, “Why me.” Sylvia who has been in our Reiki group for almost 20 years is in just such a dilemma. It was only in August that she found out why her body was not responding as it had before. Her legs were becoming weak, she was falling and became easily tired. The prognosis was grim. ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease. How did she react to her doctor? She laughed. “Me? I’m going to be unable to walk, dance Zumba, swim, play Wee? No, that is not me, this is a joke.”
Sylvia is the most positive person I know. She is kind, compassionate, and sees the best in others. Not only does she respect people, but dogs as well. For years she volunteered to place beagles into loving homes. She had her dogs attuned to Reiki to ease their pain, and I could not see why Sylvia had this debilitating disease. We were both perplexed but knew there was a blessing somewhere.
Sylvia asked the question “Why” and the answer arose. As she, with the help of caring friends, cleaned out her home she found a book that was not donated lying on the floor: Journey of Souls by Michael Newton. She did not recall purchasing it and wonder why it did not get cleared out with the other books. So she began to read it.
Newton, a psychologist and hypnotherapist helped people locate information about not only their life now but, what happens when you are out of body floating around as a spirit, deciding what to do when you re-embody. Sylvia realized she always gave to others but did not take the time to receive. Now she had to let others help her. She had no other choice hence one of the reasons for this disease.
I marvel at her wisdom. Let it guide you to be open to not only giving to others, but even more important, to be open to receiving.
Please accept my love today and send healing light to Sylvia.
